From Salzburg over the Tennengebirge mountains, to the Gosaukamm and to the Hohen Dachstein, along the southern face of the Dachstein over the picturesque Hallstättersee lake to the Katrinalm.

From the Annaberg in Lammertal, a narrow path leads upwards into the Serpentinen. At its end, located 1000m above sea level, a wide sunny plateau opens up to be awed at. In the midst of this plateau, a “winter stable” is located, built in the 16th century, extended to a stud farm. Today, the Winterstellgut name stands for guest hospitality in the hearty Salzburg tradition.

Cuisine and cellars:
The Winterstellgut is a storage place for the very finest. Selected products from the region are carefully prepared and consist of the highest quality leading to traditional yet extraordinary dishes.

In the cellar of this house lie the finest Veltliner and Riesling wines in the world, exquisite Sauvignons, fruity Zweigelts, full-bodied Blaufränkisch wines and elegant Pinot noirs. This wide range of fine wines all have one thing in common – their Austrian origin.

Fans of distilled delights will find their reward here : home-made schnaps of the Winterstellgut. The one and only Siegfried Herzog from Saalfelden is responsible for this, awarded “Schnaps maker of the year” in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

The Steirereck guesthouse is the ideal guesthouse for all. Dating back to 1616, but newly renovated – with chests, wooden tables, chequered table cloths and an engraving from Siegfried Herzog on the wall. The wines originate from the Felsenkeller, the beer is home-brewed and the fresh water comes from the Hausquelle, flowing at the Himmelsreich and barrelled at the gargle.
